Early Years - Academics

The mission of the Early Years Program is to create an environment where pre-school children develop a love of learning. By creating a caring, intellectually stimulating atmosphere, we develop the foundation for our students to become effective, life-long learners.

Daily activities teach letter recognition, phonics, and writing skills. Even in the early years, Batt students are authors.  They have already written and illustrated their first class book, What Grows On A Tree? They also learn mathematics, hands-on science and social studies. Social studies and reading lessons began with Let's Find Out issues. These mini newspapers are both educational and entertaining. In math, manipulatives are used to teach classification, pattern recognition, numeral recognition, shape identification, number concept development, and estimation. Each week our students also enjoy computer, art, music, P.E., and Spanish classes.
