Lower School - Fifth Grade
The fifth grade year is an important one at Batt Private School. Our students are working to reinforce the skills they have learned during their first years at Batt and preparing for the challenges of upper school.
This year's fifth graders are making the transition with style. They are clever, hard-working students who are embracing their new curriculum.
In social studies, they are studying American History. After reviewing the Federalist Period, they will move on to modern American History. They are also becoming more familiar with current events and preparing themselves for the challenges of term projects.
While Mrs. Mitnick is continuing to focus on communication, she will also introduce more Spanish grammar. The students have been embracing this more in-depth study of Spanish with enthusiasm and energy.
The fifth graders have begun the first year of a three year integrated science program. The curriculum focuses on life, earth, and physical science. They are looking forward to doing some of the same experiments as the middle school students.
