BATT SCHOOL FOR INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP
JUNO BEACH PREP SCHOOL

The Batt Writing Curriculum:  Exploring Our Place in the World

Each year, children will begin by writing about themselves, their families, and their own little world.  They will then move on to writing about their school and community.  The last part of each year, they focus on their place in the broader world.  This sequence is repeated each year as the children grow and develop as human beings and writers.  From the beginning, we emphasize principles of research, documentation, persuasive writing, and public speaking.  Students enjoy writing workshops where they practice pre-writing, drafting, conferencing, revising, and editing.
