ArtiGras Youth Art Competition Winners Announced

Contributed by: Contributed by: Rebecca Seelig

The winners of the 2008 ArtiGras Youth Art Competition sponsored by the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center were announced during the first day of the ArtiGras Fine Art Festival. More than 350 students from 75 schools from kindergarten through 12 th grade submitted artwork in mediums ranging from pencil and crayon to chalk and paint. Artwork was judged by local artists and art educators who had the daunting task of narrowing down the hundreds of entries to only 78 finalists then selecting a first, second and three place winner along with three honorable mentions for each school grade.

The 2008 ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival produced by The Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Abacoa Town Center, runs through February 18 at Abacoa in Jupiter. The outdoor arts event showcases a juried exhibition of outstanding fine art and crafts along with activities which include live entertainment, artist demonstrations, children's interactive art activities, celebrity art doodles, Youth Art Competition Gallery and the opportunity to meet more than 300 of the top artists from around the world. Listed as one of the top 50 festivals in the country, the 2008 ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival expects more than 150,000 guests over the three-day period.

For additional information on ArtiGras visit www.artigras.org or contact the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce at (561) 691-8507.
