Notes from Kate

Oct 2007

When we decided to develop a new curriculum, we really thought about what we wanted the end result to be. Our parents have provided their children with stimulating environments, world travel, and a private education. Why? We knew it wasn’t for shallow reasons. For what future are we training our children? We do not know whether they will go into government, charity, business, or education, but we do know that they will take a leadership role. Therefore, our aim must be to create skilled, intelligent, ethical leaders who will be successful wherever they decide to work and live.

We will be incorporating two of the things that mean the most to us: an international focus and leadership skills. Our curriculum will address such issues as human rights, environmental issues, and humane education. Leadership themes will be included across the curriculum. One of the most important ways we can motivate our students is simply to share our expectation that they will develop into responsible leaders. It is our hope that they will internalize the belief that this is what they are meant to be.
