Early Years - Pre-Kindergarten 4

Pre-K 4 kicks off the New Year with the addition of three new friends. Welcome to Scott, Katie, and Jack! We are glad to have you on the Pre-K team where our motto is, “I think I can, I know I can.”

January finds us writing not only our first names, but last names too. Valentines’ Day is just around the corner and this will be a great opportunity to put this writing skill into action. Please encourage your children to sign their names on cards to send to their friends. We will exchange cards at the Valentines’ Day party.

Pre-K has totally enjoyed learning about the winter season. Our most recent creative writing project is titled Mittens and it is a counting book. We have learned about animals that hibernate, and we can’t wait until Snow Day!

In math, we continue to work on numbers 0-10 with extra attention now on 6-10. We are learning to identify and write these numerals. During February, we will be involved in matching numbers to groups of things and then comparing two groups.

This month’s science theme is Sound. We are finding out the importance of sound and how it is produced when things vibrate. February’s science unit is Simple Machines. We will investigate how various machines have been designed.
