The Primary Program includes a full academic and exploratory program for children in kindergarten and first and second grades. The children continue to thrive in the caring, intellectually stimulating environment they enjoyed in the Early Years Program. The program enables each child to develop to his or her fullest academic, social, and emotional potential. It is designed to guide students toward becoming good citizens, effective leaders, and caring human beings.

In the primary program, our students become confident readers. By sharing our love of reading, we hope to provide our students with the skills and habits that will take them through their academic careers. To enhance language skills, they read classic literature. They are exposed to many different literary elements and continue to polish their skills in predicting, summarizing, analyzing cause and effect, and finding the main idea and details. Both reading and math are taught in a small group setting. The goal of the math program is to teach the skills and concepts needed for further study. Our math curriculum is linked to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics. Teachers stress both computation skills and conceptual understanding. Our social studies programs takes the students on a journey of community, country and world. Each week our students also enjoy computer, art, music, P.E., and Spanish classes. Students strive to develop positive character traits and to continue our tradition of community service. This year, each primary grade will have a community service project to work on throughout the year.
